About me and my practice

As I work online I am able to counselling all over the UK and abroad. I find a lot of clients appear happy with this as it helps with the stress of travelling to appointments as well as giving the client a more similar environment for them to open up in.
I am qualified to see children, adolescents, adults and couples and I have a fully enhanced DBS certificate.

Individuals:
Life can seem extremely difficult at times as we may face situations that are challenging to deal with . This can leave us feeling quite vulnerable and alone in the world, and may be caused by situations that seem out of our control. Together we can explore the emotions you are feeling, I will help you to unravel all the sad and negative thoughts that keep ruminating within you, giving you those difficult feelings to deal with. I will do so in a supportive and empathetic way, so you no longer feel alone with your struggles

Relationship Counselling:

As well as working with individuals I have a keen interest in working with couples improve their relationships by supporting them to unravel the issues that appear to be causing the discord, in the hope they can have a more harmonious relationship.

Some couples can reach a stage in their relationship where issues begin to arise, this may be for a variety of reasons such as:

- Communication Problems
- Intimacy Issues
- Trust difficulties
- Concerns around step/blended families and many more.

Young people:

Many young people aged 11-17 face a similar range of problems to adults, from family and relationship concerns to depression, anxiety, bereavement relationship issues anger, body image concerns and low self-esteem etc. This is all on top of school-related issues such as bullying and exam-stress

Experience

Before I became a counsellor, I spent many years working in the care sector, this included working within palliative care, secure mental health units, elderly care, education learning disabilities etc. Through gaining this experience it became apparent how those who were struggling with everyday life really needed someone to listen to them in a safe non-judgmental empathetic environment which made me look at a career in counselling. I have also been through various experiences in my own life that I feel has made me want to turn these experiences into positive ones by assisting those that are going through challenging I have a vast amount of experience and qualifications in working with all age group in various establishments such as hospices, schools, hospitals, day centres, secure units to name just a few.

I do understand how daunting a first counselling session may be, so I will do all I can to help put you at ease. In the first session I will go over the contract and the boundaries around it. I will explain to you about how I work and what school of counselling I will be offering. I will look at what you would hope to achieve from counselling and get to know more about you as a person by maybe asking some questions so I can get a clearer picture of your issues.
